Who: Physics postgraduate researchers in observational astronomy. Would also be of interest to theoretical astronomers wanting an introduction to data analysis. What: A 3-day residential workshop led by senior researchers in the SEPnet region comprising lectures, tutorials, seminars and other activities. NuSec Personal Development Grant: The Nuclear Security Science Network ‘NuSec’ promotes research and technology in nuclear security. The network is open to all academic, industrial and government scientists and engineers working in nuclear security and acts as a forum to encourage collaboration, networking and capability for all stakeholders. Aim of Grant: To support Early Career Researchers and established staff across a range of personal development activities related to nuclear security science, including attending research conferences, carrying out industrial placements, or attending training courses. The GRADnet Induction Day was held at the Park Crescent Conference Centre in central London on Wednesday, 26 October. 115 postgraduate students attended the day and participated in 5 workshops: Getting your research published: Simon Harris, IOP Publishing; LaTEX: Dr Paul Stevenson, University of Surrey; MATLAB: Prof Peter McDonald, University of Surrey; Python: Dr Timothy Kinnear, University of Kent and Organising meetings and conferences: Kay Pearson, Employability Advisor University of Surrey.
